Dear News Editor,
In your edition of euronews you have mentioned the Moldovian, Slovakian and Macedonian elections for new presidents…...Did you know that as of yesterday, 4th April’09, Malta has a new president?!!!!! Malta is also an EU member, and this is a historic event for us as our Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi nominated a member from the opposing party to act as Malta’s President. Dr George Abela succeeds a great statesman Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami !!

Does NATO means only France, Germany and dear Usa?? Merkel and Sarkozy are like partner in crimes. They agree with everything they say. They push other countries to accept their ideas such as election of Rasmusses and I think it is a big CONTROVERSY. Why do other countries speak up?? What happened to Great Britain or Italy or Turkey??

hi euronews team,
following the G-20 meeting, could you do an item comparing the quality & level of information provided by the media to the readers/viewers in the respective community countries?
my reason for asking: living in the UK it seems that the BBC (and others) report a lot on what our American cousins think, but comparatively little about happenings in the EU; with elections just round the corner we all require reliable information before casting our votes.
14.04.09
Dear viewer,
It was with the point you raise in mind that we created our special coverage of the forthcoming elections. From now until voting ends “Europe 2009” will provide news, analysis, debate and special reports on all the issues affecting people across the EU. euronews is the only channel providing this level of extensive coverage. Check out our website for more details. Head of English Service

Why is it Espana, Italia or Deutchland and not Suomi, Türkiye or Danmark???
Why do you use some countries original names and others in English names??
Please explain this.

Dear viewer If the country concerned is one of euronews’ language services (with the exception of Arabic and Russian, as we do not use Arabic and Cyrillic script on screen) then the caption is written in the language of that country. If not then it’s in English. From January 2010 stories on Turkey will be captioned Turkiye because we will have a new Turkish service. You learn to compromise when you work at euronews. We hope viewers understand. Head of English Service

Hi! As a french student in the US, euronews is a life-saver for me, I have been a follower for as long as 4 years and I’m still amazed by the openness, credibility and professionalism this network is all about.
euronews is one of the examples that show that the European Union has a great potential as the beacon of human rights and dignity, you don’t try to brainwash your viewers and you actually respect their intelligence (unlike many of news network I have to watch now).
If I have only one negative feedback to say: when are you going to get on LiveStation :)?
Rock on!
10.04.09
Dear viewer,
We actually do have output on Livestation, but for contractual reasons we cannot broadcast a free service in the US, so euronews is geoblocked, which means unavailable in certain areas.

Your information about the South Korean Ice skater this morning was incorrect. The was skating to the music of Rimsky Korsakovs’ Scherazade

I as well as all the others who sent you comments during this past February obviously
wasted our time. Hope you had a good vacation.
My point was simple: Not only is the whining British male voice doing some of your broadcasts
super irritating, as already pointed out by previous feedbackers. But what particularly irritates
me is his mispronunciations of such often used names as Barack and Hamas. This in spite
of the fact that his on site correspondents use the correct pronunciations. Even your native German commentators get it right. How arrogant or perhaps stupid can this British guy be?
Your coverage is well balanced and extensive. A welcome change from US “World my ass” news.
Sincerely
John Chabot

Dear Diction Experts,
Could you teach the faceless, female Englis-language newsreader (not the one with the slow, sleepy school mistress voice, but the other one) to say “nuclear’ instead of ‘nucular’? She’s recently had an awful lot of practice with North Korea, Pakistan and Iran, but it doesn’t seem to get any better.
I use your excellent, well-intonated and concise headlines as sound examples at my univeristy’s English Philology Department, and I’m a bit tired of having to correct her so often ;-)
Yours,
Mark Hoogslag MA
Thank you!

Dear viewer, I will tell her though I think she will go ballistic. Joking aside we’re happy to take constructive criticism of our on-air output and in this case you have a valid point. I’m not sure if I will be able to pinpoint the nuclear offender or the “sleepy school mistress” but your comment will serve a general reminder to everyone. Head of English Service

Is there nothing else on euronews but skiing? Every time I change channels, there’s nothing but skiing on. It may be attractive to everyone in Europe (Winter) watching your channel, but to us in South Africa (Summer) it’s totally dis-interesting.
Sci-Tech inserts are very good and very interesting. Generally-speaking euronews carries MORE NEWS than most other channels, they have longer articles.
eNewsChannel is far too full of ANC politics. We also watch Aljazeera.
By the way, your website is very difficult to navigate using a laptop/notebook computer. The webmaster should look into this.
05.03.09
Dear viewer,
You’re right. Skiing is hugely popular in Europe (and elsewhere) and we really have to give it extensive coverage during its relatively short season. That’s one of the difficulties in covering sport — what attracts some will turn off others. But we do try to give as broad a coverage of sport as possible, given the restrictive access issues that all affect channels in this area of reporting. Head of English section

In my opinion, a “paneuropean” channel could think about how many languages are spoken in Europe. English is nowadays the “lingua franca” all over the world, but it’s native language only in 2 countries of the UE.
I propose Esperanto as common language in UE and I pray to euronews to create some programs to learn esperanto, official language of UNESCO since 1945. It only has 16 grammar rules without exceptions!!!
Come on and learn esperanto! Esperanto estas granda idiomo! Lernu esperanton!!
