I am a regular viewer of euronews and appreciate the news content. However I would like to bring to your notice one annoying aspect of overlapping voices when you show discussions or comments from different people and translate their voice in English. In such cases it will be great if you could mute the original voice. It will make it easier to understand the message.

    24.06.11

    Dear viewer,
We can’t ‘mute’ the original voice altogether but it should be sufficiently low as to leave the dubbed voice clear and comprehensible. We will take your comments into consideration and follow up on your post. Head of English Service

I am a Nuclear Physicist who has spent an entire lifetime and career in
    environmental areas.

I am astounded that your organization and the others like you seem to do
terrible research regarding learning important facts.

Specifically, regarding nuclear power plants, there are three very obvious
    facts:

    (1) The SUPPLY of uranium is NOT remotely what people seem to assume!
Around 1970, the US had an enormous supply of uranium, then thought the
world’s largest, but we dug it up and used it remarlably rapidly. By about
1992, ALL 39 uranium mines in the United States had CLOSED due to having
already mined all the accessible supplies. There ARE small amounts left in
some of those mines, but not even enough for the companies that own the
mines to think it was profitable to try to get it out. The United States
has therefore had to IMPORT virtually all the uranium that has been used in
our hundred nuclear power plants for the past 20 years.

    (2) There are only THREE countries which have significant amounts of
uranium, Canada, Australia and Kazakstan. Fortunately, the first two are
friends of the US and have sold enormous amounts of uranium to us. But the
REMAINING supplies of uranium in both Australia and Canada have already been
    greatly depleted by our purchases.

No one can know for sure, but at the current rate that uranium is being used
up in power plants, the known and assumed remaining quantities of uranium in
Australia and Canada WILL BE entirely used up by around 2020.

NO ONE seems to be aware of this important fact! All the thousands of
government staff seem oblivious to this fact. Obama arranged that a couple
new nuclear power plants be built, but they will not be completed until
around 2020. WHAT will be put into those plants??? Brand new nuclear
powerplants with no possible fuel available! Darkly humorous.

China announced plans to build as many as 470 nuclear power plants, so they
are also not aware that there will soon not be any uranium available.

A LOT of scientists in each country are paid large salaries, but they are
all unaware of something that is so obvious? Shouldn’t someone have noticed
when all 39 uranium mines closed down around 1990, that there was a
    reason???

    (3) Several qualified teams of researchers of Chernobyl all published
results where they stated that Chernobyl released approximately 500 times
the amount of radiation of either Nagasaki or Hirosima atomic bombs.
Recently, the Japanese governmend admitted that their recent disaster has
already released “one sixth of Chernobyl”. Shouldn’t someone have
connected those two concepts??? That the world has grieved over Nagasaki
and Hiroshima for 60 years, and the US criticized, but Japan HAS DONE TO
THEMSELVES around 80 times more radiation from those powerplants?

The public is still scared of nuclear bombs. If press conferences were
given where it was made clear that Japan now has the effects of essentially
80 Hiroshima atom bombs, due to their powerplants failing, how could ANYONE
tolerate even ONE nuclear powerplant in their own country?

There are also shortcomings in your efforts regarding other aspects of
energy and the environment. Should you have interest in correcting those
matters, I would be willing to assist. I have several web-pages that
already present accurate and correct information, upon which intelligent
    choices might be made.

    Dear viewer,
You make some very interesting observations touching on a wider, complex debate about energy. But your remarks about our coverage of the issue are hard to respond to as you haven’t given concrete examples of what you regard as incorrect information, or in what stories/output it occurred. in response to rnfrancisfrancis regarding Eurovision and Euefa.
    Dear Mr. rnfrancisfrancis,
Lebanon and Israel are both members of the EBU “European Broadcasting Union”. So both countries are entitled to participate in Eurovision, Miss Europe etc etc…
Lebanon’s broadcasting organization, Télé Liban, was set to make the country’s debut at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 but withdrew due to Lebanon’s laws barring the broadcast of Israeli content. The Lebanese were furious because most of us are fed up with this state of war between our country and Israel, as it is being imposed by Hezbollah’s ideology and Israel’s non stop violation of our air space threats. Regarding Euefa, Israel was never accepted into the asian football club so they had to join the europeans in order to compete with other nations. But Lebanon does participate in many European sports, Skiing and Rugby…in 2006 Lebanon went to Miss World and Miss Lebanon at the time was elected Miss southern europe. I would like to conclude that Europe is bigger than the EU and bigger than it’s geography. And although Lebanon is a member of the arab league, this does not undermine its contribution to the european heritage and its european identity. After all we gave europe its alphabet and its name.

    Sir/Madam,
In recent times, europe is talking much about unification, intergration, freedom of religion and justic etc;but nothing or little is being done to checkmate union member’s still persecuting people on the basis of their race, colour, reliogion and worst of all base on how far they can gain in their victims home countries.ie,Flemish region would chestise people from a specific country because in their opinion,i quote we don’t get your oil or gas free so,why are you here? don’t you know you’re not welcome in Belgium?

Sir/madam,you will agree with me that it would be extreemly difficult for a victim to get a fair hearing in this situation.worst of all,if one has to hear such a statement from the court of law in a country such as belgium.worst still the capital of europe doesn’t this portray europe in a bad light?

Last January I returned to Cyprus after many years abroad. I was elated to find euronews on my television set and I watch it daily. Your service is exceptional and I would like to congratulate you for that.

Today there is a lot of news on Turkey because of their Parliamentary elections. About 15 minutes ago I watched a short debate on Turkey’s aspirations to join the European Union. I must tell you I am very disapointed that you did not invite as one of your guest on that program a Cypriot MEP. I was 12 years old when the Turkish invation took place in 1974. I am currently living in my parent’s refugee home built by the government after the invasion. My family are refugees and have lost all their property, posessions and close friends and relatives during Turkey’s brutal invasion in 1974. I was happy to see that Turkey’s occupation of Cyprus came up very quickly in the debate. It would have been fair to have a Cypriot MEP challenge the Turkish lady MP. It is about time that all of Europe clearly communicates to Turkey that its illegal invasion and continued occupation of 40% of the Republic Cyprus is unacceptable.

Turkey is not yet anywhere near being a Democracy. Mr Erdogan’s government have repressed the Turkish press, and basic democratic freedoms to its citizens especially minorities. The army unfortunately still rules Turkey as it always has.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Michael Ellinas

Your message at the top of the “feedback” page says, and I quote, “This is the place where YOU SET THE AGENDA….Whatever you want to make a point about, this is the message forum for you”. The truth is that you censor feedback from your contributors. Why else do you have a moderator? The message I entered on your page today has“joined the queue for the moderator”. The message I wrote a day or two ago was not included in your column. You are not allowing free speech! What are you frightened about? What a pathetic attitude you exhibit! What sort of journalists are you?!

It is curious that Israel participates in the euro 2012 football competition and the eurovision song contest but Lebonan does not. Geographically Lebanon is closer to Europe than is Israel.
I wonder why Israel was invited to join each competitions but Lebanon was not?

I’ve just found out that you have partnered with Jean-Michel Jarre.
This is fantastic news, can’t wait to see the Monaco event.

Can you please use your YOU poll to ask your viewers, if they would like to change the manner in which the transition between news bulletins are shown. It is like someone shining a torch in your face. That light is so annoying I am actually considering not watching euronews anymore because of it. And I have being watching your channel since 1999. I am convinced that the majority of your viewers would prefer it to be scrapped. I am sure with all the creative genius working at euronews HQ, you will come up with something good. Thank you, from an irate Irish viewer.

    Dear viewer,
A few viewers have raised this issue and we are taking the comments under consideration. There are no plans to change the visual effect at this stage, but your comments have been taken on board. Head of English Service

Is there any limit to Spanish arrogance and ignorance? Over a dozen people die in Germany, with many more in hospital, most likely due to contaminated vegetables from Spain. Yet the immediate and predictable reaction of Clara Aguilera (political representative of Andalucia) is denial with the utmost of arrogance. Not even a word of concern for the families of the victims. Nothing, just more Spanish arrogance. In Spain it is always somebody else’s fault. The immediate reaction is denial. Yet it is in Andalucia (Almeria in particular) that people of African and Arab or South American origin are kept as near slave labour. They work 12 hours a day without social security, many deprived of medical aid. They are kept in poverty and unhygienic conditions, defecating in the very fields they work in … a real festering ground for contamination. Maybe the arrogant Clara Aguilera would like to explain those conditions to her European audience?
