You ought to be ashamed! You show today Saakashvili! Is he a hero? He is worth than Hitler! You show Gori and Georgian village, but you almost don’t show South Ossetia! Ossetian Tskhinval is destroyed, but Gori is unhurt! How many Ossetians are dead? No facts! Why does this conflict “Russian-Georgian”? It was the conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia! Russia just helped its citizens! Do you know that many Ossetians are Russian citizens? There is no democracy in Europe! You are under America! America says and you do this!

Comment about the article “French farmers reject subsidies repayment”

I think that although subsidies to French agriculture may have been inappropriate for many years, French farmers are right to refuse to pay back these government subsidies. Farmers have not stolen this financial aid, it has been granted by French governments over the last ten years. In a period of economic downturn, the European Commission reacts too late and too strongly towards farmers but also consumers – as food prices will likely rise sharply if farmers have to make a repayment. However, it is a timely gift for a government in need of fresh cash injections!

Isn’t it time to insert the EU symbol on the member states national flags? May be in the upper right corner?!

I read the weather frequently, but to my dismay,Malta’s Tempreture is not shown on the weather chart. Also the wind direction is somehow obscure ‘’ the area between Tunisia and Malta’‘.Another point when is the weather updated, the time is missing. Observing the five day weather why the wind direction not included. Hope the inconvenience be sorted out once and forever.

To whom it may concern; I have just watched the report on the return of the Spanish naval vessel returning from a stint in apprehending pirates in the gulf of Aden. I do not know where your female reporter received her geography lessons but it certainly could not have been any UK school or college. Her pronunciation of Aden is not AAAden but the short and tight A as in the letter A of the English alphabet. Perhaps she has delusions of the Royal ‘WE’ or ‘Hise’ instead of house as Charlie boy frequently uses. Even the BBC, usually the font of correct pronunciation can not bring itself to change Aden into Aaaaaden.

Is it possible to whatch sport news online? If not, why?

    03.07.09

    Dear viewer,
Plans are underway to extend our web coverage of sports events, but at the moment we are heavily restricted by issues of access and rights to the pictures. From the autumn we will be carrying the results of Europe’s football leagues online in the form of a series of graphics. We are committed to developing our internet output generally, and extending our sports coverage remains an important objective.

On 27 June 2009 European heads of states gathered in Hungary to commomertate the 20th anniversary of the official date of the falling down of the Iron Curtan, the opening up the eastern borders making path to the reunification of a united Europe.

On June 27, 1989 foreign ministers of Hungary and Austria opened the sealed border by symbolically cutting the barbed-wire fence. Later that year Hungary allowed about 50,000 East German refugees to leave for the West, a move that opened the way towards Germany’s reunification in October 1990.

Such European news make no news, rather absolute negligence when it comes to covering Europe at “ euronews “
It is a crucial issue, no matter the eastern part of Europe is still a white spot for westerners and Eurones, too.
Ok, when it comes to Central Europe, it would definitely come a s Eastern Europe, – good old clichés, – also there must be either disturbances or catastrophes to get into the mainstream of euronews’s top news.

Ok, Hungary is not Honduras or Guadalope, – both being in the headlines, – nor an ex-Soviet Central Asian republic to be covered any time. When it comes to sensational news, Central Europe, also Hungary may find its top position in headlines.
Central Europe as such is still either misrepresented or covered bias when it comes to any serious news coverage, what else could one expect of a “ European “ news source that has noting to do with the EU but mistakenly borrowing its name.

There is a great deal of responsibility of “ euronews “ and it is not the first time – also in covering cultural, science or travel destination issues, when I have to turn away from this channel of information as one could expect of a reliable and unbiased channel.

Shame on euronews, if I can’t find reliable information on Europe, I would also prefer to read about Albania’s major roadworks or Iranian exiles in Europe and Iraq.
    ( Some latest headlines )

Why not euronews about Europe, and the EU, for Europe and Europeans, first ?
If done, and if well done, ok, for the rest of the world, but only after, llater on et’s do it for the rest of the world in Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Zulu, whatever, for their taste, pleasing the rest of the world )

    Dear viewer,
We did cover this event. It was referred to in a preview in May and on the evening of June 27 euronews broadcast an analysis of the commemoration. It was also reported on in news bulletins the following morning. The images were received later than expected on the 27th and it is, perhaps, for this reason that you missed our output on the event. We are keen to report on international stories wherever they come from and consider our coverage of eastern and central Europe to be much more extensive than that of our countreparts. A lot depends on what we are offered by our partners and news agencies in the region. If you have any ideas you think might be of interest to us please let us know. Head of English Service

    Dear reader,

Today I watched a euronews report on the detention of two terrorists of E.T.A. in France. The last comment the reporter made was that analysts believe the E.T.A. is losing support of the Basque people because of their violence, but that polls indicate that still a majority of the Basque people wants independence.

Are you sure about that? I can’t find any polls indicating a mayor Basque wish of independence, only polls indicating that the majority did not pronounce itself when asked, which is not the same. Could you indicate which polls you used for this report?

    Thank you.

    03.07.09

    Dear viewer,
The phrase you refer to came from one of the reputable news agencies we use as source material, but it did not specify which polls. We changed the text in later versions during the day to more acurrately reflect the position of the majority of Basques, as you have outlined above. Head of English Service

    hi euronews Editor

    re. opinion polls.

today’s poll is a good example of the (occasional) shortcomings present. the question is “Can Berlusconi remain in office amid increasing sex scandal?”; this, however, cannot really be answered by a “mere” citizen. the correct way to ask would be “Should Berlusconi remain in office amid increasing sex scandal?”. I suspect that this is what most people take the question to mean, certainly, I did (oh, and the answer? a resounding NO).
