On the crest of Tunisia’s revolutionary wave one year ago, Egyptians rose up as well, removing president Mubarak from power. Today their hopes seem undermined, even as the people celebrate their historic accomplishment. Russian television reported.

Egypt’s secular youth and people without jobs who got the movement for change started were swiftly joined by the whole population. After that, the project swerved off the rails. Swiss television reported on the struggle to stay hopeful.

Women participated prominently in the uprising a year ago. They were handled roughly by men, even abused sexually, and not only by soldiers. Spanish television reported on Egyptian women’s role in today’s society.
