Kidnapped Austrian girl set to tell her story

world news

| |

The Austrian girl kidnapped and held as a slave for more than eight years is set to tell her story tonight. Natascha Kampusch will read extracts from a book about her ordeal at the hands of Wolfgang Priklopil, who snatched her in Vienna when she was just ten, and kept her in an underground cell. The book’s title, ’3096 Days’, refers to the length of time she was held.

Initial reports suggest the book isn’t selling as well as might be expected.

Kampusch describes Priklopil as a paranoid, unpredictable man, whose mental and physical torment prompted her to attempt suicide.
He killed himself hours after she escaped in August 2006.
