Suicide bomber kills at least 20 in Pakistan

At least 20 people have been killed in what’s thought to be the latest Taliban attack in Pakistan. A suicide bomber rammed a car packed with 300 kgs of explosives into a police residential complex in the northwestern town of Kohat. The blast devastated several buildings, as people were ending the Muslim dusk-to-dawn Ramadan fast.

Earlier a Taliban spokesman had threatened more suicide attacks on police and soldiers in response to American drone strikes in tribal regions near the Afghan border.

Many people were wounded in Kohat and it is feared the number of dead will rise.

Islamist militants have killed at least 120 people in the last week alone since they resumed their attacks on Pakistani security forces. That followed a month-long lull during the floods which have devastated much of the country.
