Hong Kong director John Woo has collected a lifetime achievement award at the Venice Film Festival, where his latest film “Reign of Assassins” was screened out of competition.

Receiving the award, John Woo said is was a great honour.

Reign of Assassins is set in ancient China and tells the story of a female assassin who falls in love with a man who, unknown to her, is a trained martial artist. Naturally, it doesn’t take long before sparks fly.

The film will be released in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan later this autumn.
