Up to 40 people are now reported to have been killed and nearly a 100 injured in a twin suicide blast in the Pakistani city of Lahore.

The first bomb went off in a military neighbourhood after an army vehicle was targeted. The second explosion is said to have hit other security force vehicles as they arrived at the scene of the initial blast.

Lahore has been frequently targeted by insurgents in recent months.

On Monday 15 people were killed in the large eastern city in a similar suicide blast claimed by the Taliban.
