A British Airways employee – accused of being a would-be suicide bomber – tried to get work as cabin crew during a planned strike it’s been claimed.

Bangladesh born Rajib Karim who’s 30, faces charges under counter-terrorism legislation of planning suicide bombings and his own martyrdom.

A scheduled strike by BA cabin crew over Christmas was halted by a court ruling over the legality of the ballot required for the action.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London was told Karim deliberately stayed in Britain, obtaining a passport and getting a job with the airline to further the conspiracy.

The computer expert is also alleged to have shared information about his work, including security measures as well as plotting with contacts in his home country, Pakistan and Yemen.

Karim was remanded in custody for trial at the Old Bailey.
