Sony is to start selling 3D televisions in June, betting they will be the next hot product in the electronics industry.

The Japanese company said it believes 3D models will make up 10 percent its TV sales in the next financial year.

It has followed Samsung which launched 3D TVs in South Korea last month, and is about to start selling then globally.

Analysts said Sony’s strong presence in video games should help it.

Sony’s Chief Executive Howard Stringer holds high hopes of a shift to 3D as a way of boosting its business operations, which range from TVs, digital cameras and Blu-ray DVD players to video games.
