Pay strikes disrupt Germany

Strikes by public workers continued in Germany on Friday.

Most buses and trains did not run in major cities and rubbish was not collected.

Workers also walked out at hospitals and municipal facilities like swimming pools and museums.

The public-sector union Ver.di called the so-called warning strikes after pay talks broke down.

It wants a five percent pay rise which the employers have said is excessive.
