Bomb attack near military base in Kabul

world news

A suicide car bomber has blown himself up near a US military base in the Afghan capital.

Authorities say half a dozen civilians have been wounded.

The attack comes just over a week after simultaneous assaults in Kabul killed five people.

The bomber struck on a road near the main entrance to Camp Phoenix, a base used mainly by U.S. forces.

It is reported the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack and that a convoy of soldiers was the target.

A car bomb exploded outside Camp Phoenix in November, injuring nine foreign soldiers and several civilians.
