EDF denies attempt to push up energy bills

French electricity supplier EDF is planning to raise its prices by up to 24 percent according to a daily newspaper. EDF denies reports in Les Echos that it has asked the government to allow it to put up a key tariff in order to finance investments. The company’s former president, Pierre Gadonneix, lost his job after a row with the government, EDF’s main shareholder, which refused price rises.
