German inflation rises

There are signs of rising inflation in Germany indicated what is likely to have happened across the whole euro area.

Inflation accelerated in four German states in December – North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Brandenburg and Saxony.

That was due to a big increase in fuel costs compared with the same month last year.

Annualised inflation for the euro zone is expected to have risen 0.9 percent for December.
