State-owned utility Korea Electric Power Corporation’s shares shot up five percent on Monday.

It was the lead bidder in a South Korean group that has just won a landmark contract for one of the Middle East’s biggest ever energy contracts.

It beat more favoured US and French rivals to build and operate four nuclear reactors for the United Arab Emirates.

The other members of the consortium also saw their shares soar after the deal was signed.
