Beirut bomb targets Hamas car

world news

| |

A bomb has exploded in the Lebanese capital Beirut, in what appears to be a targeted attack on a car used by members of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

The blast went off in the south of the city, a known stronghold of Lebanon’s radical Shi’ite group Hezbollah.

The number of casualties is still unclear. Local media say at least three people have been killed and five wounded. Other news agencies vary from that figure.

Despite being rocked by assassinations and war, Lebanon has enjoyed greater stability recently, forming a unity government last month.
