Bin Laden not sheltering in Pakistan says PM

Pakistan today rejected claims that Osama bin Laden is hiding out on its territory.

The al Qaeda leader is thought to be sheltering in tribal areas near the Afghan border. But, speaking in London, Pakistan’s Prime Minister poured cold water on the intelligence community’s widely-held belief. “I don’t think Osama bin Laden is in Pakistan,” said Yusuf Raza Gilani at a joint news conference with his British counterpart Gordon Brown. Experts say bin Laden remains at large because of a lack of trust and coordination between Washington and Islamabad. But, whether authorities ever get their hands on him or not, the concern is that the al Qaeda leader continues to inspire terrorists to act in his name.More about: , ,
