Nazi war crime trial underway in Germany

Probably the last Nazi war crimes trial is underway in Munich, Germany.
 
John Demjanjuk, 89, was a camp guard and is accused of helping to force nearly 30,000 Jews into gas chambers in 1943. Demjanjuk topped a most-wanted war criminals list.
 
He was born in Ukraine and fought in the Soviet army until he was captured by the Nazis. He denies he was involved in the Holocaust and his family says he is too weak for trial.
 
Courtroom time has been limited because of his frail state. State Prosecutor Barbara Stockinger said:

“35 days are assigned for this trial. The problem is we are only able to be in the courtroom for 90 minutes, twice a day. A lot of witnesses will be heard and there is a lot of evidence to be seen. So at this point, we expect the trial to continue at least until May next year. We can’t say yet whether that gives us enough time.”
 
The atrocities took place in Sobibor in Poland where at least 250,000 Jews were murdered in total.
 
While Demjanjuk admits to being at other camps, he denies he was in Sobibor, which prosecutors say was run by over 20 Nazi SS members and up to 150 former Soviet war prisoners.
