New twist in Iran nuclear row

The Iranian parliament has reportedly called on the government to consider reducing cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.

This two days after the International Atomic Energy Agency voted to rebuke Iran for building a uranium enrichment plant in secret. The parliament has the power to force the government to change its level of cooperation with the IAEA. It did this in 2006 after the Vienna-based agency voted to report Iran to the U.N. Security Council. The United States and its European allies are concerned that Iran is trying to build nuclear bombs. Iran denies this, maintaining it needs nuclear technology to generate electricity to meet booming domestic needs.More about: , , ,
