It looks as though the French are splashing the cash in the run up to Christmas, as consumer spending has risen more sharply than expected.

National statistics office, INSEE, are reporting that spending on manufactured good – such as household equipment – was up by 1.1 per cent, well above the anticipated 0.4 per cent. Whilst spending on clothes rocketed, the increase for cars was modest.More about: , ,
