Iran’s decision not to process enriched uranium abroad has disappointed six world powers.

Officials from Britain, France, the US, Germany and Russia regret Tehran’s stance. But the head of the UN nuclear watchdog advised Western powers not to impose any further sanctions. The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency head Mohammed ElBaradei said: “I would hope definitely that we’ll get an agreement before the end of the year. I believe frankly the ball is very much in the Iranian court. I hope they will not miss this unique but fleeting opportunity” ElBaradei used the news conference to send a message directly to the Iranian leadership. Despite Tehran’s rejection of the proposal, he still believes this is not their final answer and remains in close touch with his Iranian counterparts.More about: , ,
