The European Union has the answer to the long running question attributed to former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger: Who do I call if I want to call Europe?

The new EU President Herman van Rompuy said he was “anxiously waiting for the first call.” The head of the union’s executive, Jose Manuel Barroso pointed the Americans in the direction of Baroness Catherine Ashton. “Henry Kissinger when he made that remark he was Secretary of State. So what we usually call Foreign Minister in Europe. For now there’s is no doubt the Secretary of State of the United States should call Cathy Ashton. Because she is our Foreign Minister, if I may say so.” The Kissinger question has now been “resolved,” he said.More about: ,
