Natascha Kampusch has claimed that her kidnapper acted alone. The 21-year-old, who was held captive for eight and a half years, was reacting to fresh speculation over how many people were involved in her ordeal.
Wolfgang Prikopil committed suicide shortly after she escaped in August 2006. His closest friend identified only as Ernest H has been named as a possible accomplice.
“I don’t know if their was a partner in crime or not. To my mind this will never be really clear. I have only seen Prikopil,” she said.
Kampusch spent most of her captivity in a basement cellar. Since making headlines around the world when she escaped rumours have continued to circulate.
One of Austria’s leading lawyers, Ludwig Adamovich, is reported as saying he is “of the opinion that she knows more than she’s letting on”.
