As Europe tightens its borders increasing numbers of African migrants are coming ashore in Latin America.

Some head for Mexico or Guatemala before trying to gain access to the US, others have no idea where they will end up.

One migrant said of his experiences: “One night I just went to the seaport. Then I took the ship. I was going to Europe. So later I found out I was in Argentina. The trip was terrible we were short of fuel and food.”

There are now more than 3,000 immigrants living in Argentina from as little as a dozen a few years ago and more are expected to make the hazardous journey.

In Argentina the welcome is warmer than in Europe, temporary work visas can be applied for shortly after arriving and free health care is available.
