British police charge suspected serial rapist

world news

Police hunting Britain’s most wanted serial rapist say they have charged a man.

For more than a decade detectives in London have been tracking the offender, nicknamed by the local press the “Night Stalker”. They believe the same offender is responsible for more than a hundred attacks, mostly on elderly people and usually at night. The eldest victim was aged 93, while another 88-year old woman was raped twice. Yesterday the team of “Operation Minstead” charged 52-year-old Delroy Grant of Brockley, south-east London with five counts of rape, six indecent assaults and 11 burglaries. The attacks were carried out on both men and women over the last 17 years. Grant’s arrest came after a massive operation to obtain more than 2,000 DNA samples from suspects. He is to appear in court today.More about:
