“The Box” is the latest offering from Richard Kelly, the director of Donnie Darko. The addition of Cameron Diaz as a morally-challenged 70s housewife sadly doesn’t add to this genre horror-flick’s attractions, but perhaps her presence is the reason it has finally got a cinema release.

James Marsden and Frank Langella make stirling efforts to keep the movie afloat but it’s hard to stay interested in a dull couple who press the button on a box thus killing a total stranger for a million pounds.
