Andorra’s government has launched an investigation after a road bridge collapsed killing five workers.
Rescue teams worked throughout the night trying to save those buried in the rubble. They were able to pull one worker out alive, but he died later in hospital.
Six other people were also injured in the accident close to the town of La Massana.
The reason for the structure’s collapse is still not known.
Andorra’s head of government, Jaume Bartumeu, said: “We are going to carry out all the investigations needed to find out the cause of the accident.’‘
The concrete bridge, near the Dos Valires tunnel, was still being built when it collapsed around midday on Saturday. The authorities said most of the victims were Portuguese nationals.
