The Disney company has got the green light from the Chinese government to build a theme park in Shangai. It comes after years of delicate negotiations and marks a great leap forward for Western media businesses trying to break into the sensitive Chinese popular culture market. The park will be Disney’s fourth outside the US, and at a cost of several billion euros will be no Mickey Mouse operation.
