“I was the Moscow correspondent for la Republica and one of my strongest memories was the day when Gorbachev kind of accepted the reunification of Germany.

We wrote our articles and I called one of my colleagues, Andrea Bonani at Midnight and said: ‘Go out in the street, because what is happening is incredible. We need to reflect to understand.’

We walked around the streets of Moscow until two in the morning, and tried to understand the significance of this extraordinary event for Russians, for the USSR, but also for the population.”
