The Philippines has been lashed by a fourth typhoon in a month.

Typhoon Mirinae ripped through the capital Manila and nearby provinces, leaving behind fresh floods and a trail of destruction. At least seven people have lost their lives and a number are reported missing.

The authorities have evacuated more than 100,000 people in nine provinces south of the capital. Flights at Manila’s international airport have been grounded and the coastguard have banned all shipping.

Mirinae took the same route as Tropical Storm Ketsana, which unleashed the heaviest rains seen around Manila for 40 years in September. A week later, Typhoon Parma caused mudslides in the mountainous Luzon area.

The bout of severe weather has left as many as 900 people dead.
