The circulation of water in the world’s oceans influences the climate. An important factor is the salinity of the water. Global data however, is incomplete. It is hoped that the SMOS satellite will change this. It also measures soil moisture, an indicator for the functioning of the global water cycle. For his new movie “Oceans”, French filmmaker Jacques Perrin studied the seas. He had inspiration and help from out of orbit.
