A train crash in Egypt has killed at least 25 people and injured dozens more.

Security sources say a packed passenger train slammed into a stationary train on the same track. It is thought that train had stopped after hitting a cow. The collision happened south of Cairo at al-Ayyat – the scene of Egypt’s worst ever rail disaster, seven years ago, when some 360 people died. A series of rail and road accidents in Egypt in recent years has triggered an outcry over the government’s handling of transport safety. With the search for survivors going on into the night, officials warned the number killed in the latest incident could rise.More about: , ,
