At India Couture Week in Mumbai the emphasis was more on individual clients than on large buyers. Jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali presented her collection “Cascades” which she said was designed with an eye to the mature woman’s tastes as well as being ideal for the young and beautiful woman.
The show was pure Bollywood, and amongst the beauties modelling the gorgious trinkets was Genelia D’Souza, a star of the Indian silver screen.
Sridevi is another Indian film star – and mercifully a far cry from the underfed Size Zero models so in vogue in Europe – who just happens to be best friends with jewellery designer Queenie Dhody… who also showed her collection in Mumbai.
Tradition meets contemporary design in a riot of colour and glamour… perhaps a bit over the top for most of us, but since when did a Bollywood star dress down?
