Romanian President Traian Basescu has nominated a financial expert as prime minister to replace the outgoing premier who was ousted by parliament earlier this week.
Lucian Croitoru is an advisor to Romania’s central bank and a respected economist. He also has links to the Democrat-Liberals, close allies of Basescu.
But analysts say his prospects for winning parliamentary approval are slim, with the opposition
backing an independent candidate.
