Dozens of people have been injured in an explosion in the capital of Moldova, Chisinau, according to local media reports.

The country’s Interior Ministry says an “unidentified explosive device” detonated close to midnight on Wednesday, during celebrations of “City Day”. Tens of thousands of people had gathered in the central square of the capital to watch a concert, when the incident happened. It’s not known exactly what caused the blast. Early reports indicate it could have been high-powered fireworks or a grenade going off. A medical source was quoted as saying no-one was seriously hurt, though several were hospitalised.More about: ,
