Suicide bomber strikes Pakistani army convoy

Violence has hit Pakistan’s streets again with the fourth deadly attack in little over a week.

Earlier today, a Taliban suicide bomber killed at least 41 people after targeting a military convoy in the north west of the country.

Dozens of people were wounded by the massive blast.

The bomber reportedly hit one of three military vehicles that were passing through a busy market in the district of Shangla.

The region lies next door to the Swat Valley, the scene of a major anti-Taliban military campaign earlier this year.

The Pakistani army is moving into position to launch a ground offensive against al Qaeda and Taliban strongholds along the Afghan border.

There has been a surge in attacks recently. At the weekend the Taliban also claimed responsibility for a siege at a military complex near to the capital Islamabad.

Pakistani commandos managed to free 22 people on Sunday after storming the base.

However, three captives along with four militants died in the rescue operation.
