As the third anniversary of her murder was marked, the family of Kremlin critic Anna Politkovskaya have voiced doubts about Moscow’s commitment to finding her killers. Relatives are sceptical that two men accused in the crime are guilty.

At a commemorative rally in the capital, fellow journalist Alexander Podrabinek suggested Russia was being dragged back into Soviet times. He urged mourners to do everything possible to defend freedom in memory of slain colleagues and, in particular, Anna Politkovskaya. Some of Russia’s leading human rights activists and opposition figures took part in the rally. It started with a minute’s silence just after four o’ clock, the time the investigative reporter was shot dead outside her home in Moscow.More about: , , ,
