A massive Tsunami has killed scores of people across Islands in the South Pacific.

It’s feared more than 100 people may have perished in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga. Waves over four metres high flattened houses and swept cars into the sea. Eyewitnesses say in some case whole villages were washed away. A Pacific wide Tsunami warning was issued after a huge 8.0 magnitude undersea quake struck near to American Samoa. The exact number of victims is still unclear but the search for bodies is ongoing. Around a quarter of a million people live on the Islands and thousands are believed to have been made homeless by the disaster. The southern side of Samoa’s main island Upolu is thought to have taken the full force of the wave. It reportedly hit within minutes of the quake leaving people no time to flee.More about: Samoa, Tsunami
