German Elections: reaction from The Left

world news

| |

During the election campaign “Die Linke” (The Left)
was the only party calling for a withdrawal of German troops from Afghanistan, something many in Germany would like to see.

This may well have been a factor in their stong showing.

Said Lothar Bisky, a leader of The Left, “We have every reason to celebrate tonight.  The Left is bigger than before and we’ve shown what we’re capable of.  I would like to thank everyone who has voted for us.  It is a great hope we are carrying. And we say it again: we are the social force in the German parliament.“
