The ousted president of the Honduras Manuel Zalaya has announced he is back in his capital Tegucigalpa three months after being toppled in a coup.

The man who has run Honduras since June, Roberto Micheletti, says Zelaya is still in exile in Nicaragua. and he risks arrest if he returns to Honduras. Zelaya, a close supporter of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, said he was calling for the restoration of democracy and dialogue. The United Nations is denying he is in their building, despite thousands of his supporters turning up outside. Other press agencies say he is at the Brazilian embassy. The US State Department is also saying Zelaya has returned.More about:
