Colombian singer Juanes has headed the line-up at a five-hour concert for “Peace in Cuba”.

Hundreds of thousands of people attended the event which was shown live on international television, including to viewers in Miami, which is the heart of the Cuban exile community and centre of opposition to Cuba’s Communist-led government. Juanes who is a 17-time Latin Grammy winner and lives in Miami, organised the “peace without borders” concert and was joined on stage by 14 artists from six countries, among them Miguel Bose of Spain and Jovanotti of Italy. Juanes said he sought to bridge the political divide which has separated Cubans for decades. Encouraged by the easing of US trade embargoes by President Obama, the singer said he hoped to see significant steps forward in US-Cuban relations.More about:
