At least eight people have been killed after a dinghy transporting would-be immigrants to Spain sunk of the Moroccan coast, near the island of Perejil.

The boat was carrying some 40 people when it sank, many were pulled from the water by Spanish and Moroccan rescue services but a precise toll has yet to be established. The Spanish enclave of Ceuta on the African continent is a popular goal for immigrants from sub-saharan Africa seeking refuge in Europe.More about: ,
