Russian flagship carrier Aeroflot is to lay off 2,000 of its 15,500 employees in the next six months as passenger numbers keep falling. The airline also said it may cut another 4,000 people if the slump continues.
The number of travellers flying in Russia was down 16.5 percent in the first seven months of this year compared with the same period in 2008.
