Celebrated French photographer Willy Ronis has died at the age of 99.

The award-winning artist who began taking pictures professionally in 1936 was a leading figure in the humanist school of photography. His work reflects the ordinary lives of French people in the post-war years, focussing heavily on human relationships and environments. Pictured standing naked at a wash-basin in 1949, Ronis’ wife Marie-Anne was the subject of one of his best-known works.More about: , ,
