The only candidate as next President of the European Commission, to succeed himself, has European governments’ support but needs the Parliament’s endorsement. Jose Manuel Barroso has had a challenging time of it trying to muster a sufficient majority there. The decision on Jose Manuel Barroso’s future, and his role in Europe, will be by secret ballot.
