BMW to build new Mini models in UK

The British government has welcomed BMW’s decision to build two new Mini models at its factory near Oxford in south central England.

BMW’s chief executive Norbert Reithofer said it will mean new jobs and investments at the facility, but he did not give details. The new models – a two-seater coupe and another model, possibly a convertible speedster – will be unveiled later this month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Mini plant is one of Britain’s largest car factories. It employs 3,500 people and since demand has picked up recently is operating close to its capacity of 220,000 cars a year.More about: , ,
