Michael Jackson will be buried later in one of LA’s most prestigious and expensive cemeteries.

He’ll be laid to rest in a private mausoleum of the Forest Lawn Memorial Park amid replicas of Michaelangelo statues and alongside the likes of Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and Carole Lombard. A judge has ruled that the ceremony, the costs of which have been described as “extraordinary,” can be paid for by the singer’s estate. It will be a private affair, unlike the televised public memorial in July that was paid for by the city of Los Angeles. The funeral comes 10 weeks after Jackson’s death from cardiac arrest brought on by a cocktail of prescription drugs. Los Angeles coroners ruled it a homicide and speculation has centred on the role of the singer’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray. According to police search warrants, Murray has been the subject of a manslaughter investigation. Once their probe is complete, police say they will refer the Jackson case to prosecutors who may bring criminal charges.More about: , , ,
