Spain jobless on the rise again

economy

The number of people out of work in Spain went up again in August, by 2.4 percent, after falling for the previous three months.

Among the reasons – a weakened tourism industry took on fewer then usual workers and retailers laid off staff after their summer sales. Spain has the highest unemployment rate in the euro zone with 3.6 million people out of work. One unemployed Spaniard, Javier Peña, has created a website to help others with tips on how to get work It publishes information on things like improving your CV or interview techniques. The site creator explained: “For example, if a business newspaper reports a bank is expanding, we can flag that up as presenting job opportunities.” The site even has links to a psychologist to help people who are depressed about not being able to get a job.More about: , ,
