A cooking film, based on two true stories, “Julie and Julia” first follows the culinary career of Julia Child, America’s original celebrity chef. Child picked up cooking while living in France just after world war two. The second true story is that of Julie Powell and takes place in modern day New York. Trying to give her life meaning as she approaches 30, Powell decides to cook all Child’s recipes and write a blog about it. The blog became a book and the book inspired the film.
