Ordinary People released in France

Ordinary People, a new film from Serbian director Vladimir Perisic, has just been released in France.

The movie follows a young army recruit as he is initiated into military style killing during a war which – although it remains unspecified in the film -nevertheless strongly evokes a Balkan conflict. The film is anti-war but takes the tricky position that soldiers cannot always be held responsible for their actions; but that sometimes they are just blindly obeying orders and that they have no choice, no control over their violent actions; that they are just ordinary people. It has been received with mainly positive reviews and won the prize for best film at the Sarajevo Film Festival. It has also been shown at festivals in Poland, Israel and France.
