Pakistan Taliban sources have confirmed their leader Baitullah Mehsud has been killed. The Americans have been saying since August the 5th one of their missiles had killed the commander.
It appears he was injured in an attack from an American drone and died of his injuries on Sunday.
Until now the Taliban have denied Mehsud was attacked. Hakimullah Mahsud has been named as the movement’s new leader.
The Pakistani secret service says it believes there has been factional fighting to decide on the new leadership of the Taliban involving Mehsud and rival commanders Faqui Mohammed, and Wali ur-Rehman.
